I really hope that Norway isn’t too out of character, this is the first time I’l written a story with him. My dwindling self confidence aside, I hope you enjoy the story.
    ========================

Waiting, it was extremely painful. Butterflies fluttered in your stomach as you nervously looked out your living room window. You tugged at your outfit multiple times, smoothing it out, making sure you looked your best. Every so often you heard a car driving down the street, but soon see that it wasn’t the car you were waiting for. As the clock drew closer to the agreed time of seven o’clock you became more anxious.

Anxiety only grew as the minute hand passed over the ‘1’ printed one the wall clock. Worries and doubts started to flourish in your mind. What if he forgot? What if regrets it and isn’t coming? What if he got in a wreck!? Was he okay!? You start digging through your purse to get your phone when there was a knock on the door.

You rush to answer it and relief washed over you upon seeing a familiar Norwegian standing in front of you. Thrilled that the “what if’s” were all wrong you pull the pale man into a warm hug, only to hear an odd rustling and crunching sound. You pulled away from him confused and find a now squashed bouquet of flowers in his hand.

Red painted across your face, causing you to babble out an apology, “O-oh no, Lukas I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to crush the flowers, I-”

“It’s okay,” Lukas reassured you with his stoic expression ever present on his features, “there only flowers.”

“They weren’t too expensive were they?” worry evident in your tone, “I’ll pay you back for them if you like.”

“Nei, I’m not letting you pay me back for them.”

    “But Lukas!” You whined.

Before you could say anything else a soft hand rested on your cheek. Lukas’ hands were always a little cold and tonight was no exception. Though the cool touch caused a shiver go down your spine, a soft smile pulled at your lips and you placed your hand over his. You loved how this simple action of his could calm you so quickly and warm your heart.

You gave him a quick peck on the cheek and take the bouquet. “Thank you Lukas, they’re lovely. Even after I squished them a bit,” You said with a small laugh at the end. You invite your date inside while you get some water for the flowers. After being set in their temporary home on the dining room table, you and Lukas head out to his car.

The ride was quiet for the most part, you asked him a few questions about where you were heading but other than that a somewhat awkward silence hung over the two of you. Lukas said that he had booked a reservation at a nice restaurant that a friend told him about. When the car finally stopped Both you and Lukas got out and walked arm in arm to the front door. You felt a light blush creep to your features, it was adorable how much of a gentleman the Norwegian was.

Lukas told the hostess of his reservation and you were soon seated at one of the tables in the middle of the room. A waiter came not a minute later to talk your drink orders, before leaving you to chat a little with your boyfriend as you decided what to order. Lukas was so wonderful and perfect in your eyes, and you felt like the luckiest girl on earth; no, in the entire solar system, when he confessed that he had become infatuated with you.

It wasn’t until after you and Lukas had gotten your drinks and placed your orders when you spotted a familiar looking head of spiky blonde hair walking around behind Lukas. You brushed it off as a lookalike, and continued talking with your date. Eventually your eyes fell on the spiked hair again and felt… well that’s the thing, you didn’t know exactly how you felt about what you saw. Your eyes followed the spiked hair walk back to a table of three other men.

“(Name)?” Lukas called out, drawing your attention back to him, “What are you looking at?”

You brought a hand over your mouth and cheeks to hopefully hide your growing smirk and blush. With a sharp inhale and exaggerated exhale you reply. “I… I think I saw a certain Dane walking to a table with two other blondes and a silver haired young man.”

Color washed right out of Lukas’ face. His normal monotone started to shatter from shock and disbelief, “You’re… you’re joking… Ikke sant?[1]” You shook your head and Lukas chanced a look over his shoulder. When he found the table in question he swiftly jerked his head back to you in hopes that none of them had noticed him. He rested his elbow on the table and clenched his temple with his thumb and middle two fingers while uttering curses in multiple languages.

“Which of your friends told you about this place?” you quietly ask, as if not to be heard by the others. Though that was unnecessary since there were about four tables and half a wall between you and them.

“Tino… But I don’t get why they’re here,” Lukas took a sharp breath. He combed both his hands through his hair and muttered, “Dritt[2], I thought it was Denmark’s turn this time.”

“Turn? Turn for what?” you ask tilting your head slightly.

“The day before a World Meeting, we normally go out to eat,” He explained “I thought it was Denmark’s turn to pick… He normally picks bars or any place that serves a lot of beer.”

“Oh, so you thought they’d be off drinking somewhere while we had a nice diner?” You question to see if that was indeed his plan. He nodded and started to mutter curses again, mostly towards the Dane. You reach over the table and hold his hands in your own and smile softly to him. “Hey, it’s okay Nory, we can cancel our diners and go someplace else if you want.”

A glimmer of pain shone in his dull eyes, this night getting derailed quickly. He was going to say something when a loud mouth cut him off. On your left there was a tall spiky haired blonde holding a glass of some kind of beer. The pain in Lukas’ eyes became fuel for the blazing fire behind those blue orbs. “What the Hell are you doing here?” Lukas’ anger starting to seep into his voice.

“I didn’t know where to pick, so~ I asked Tino to suggest a place he likes to eat,” Mathias answered with a cocky grin plastered on his face. “Ya know, the others don’t know you guys are here. I can keep it that way if you give me something I want.”

“No, if I start paying the danegeld now you’ll only ask for more later. Besides, (Name) and I were getting ready to leave.” his voice was colder than winter when speaking to Mathias. Lukas stood up and pushed the Dane out of his way. Your date held out a hand for you to take and despite his frustration was still very gentle towards you. He lead you out and gave the hostess some money to cover the drinks and to cancel the orders.

Once you two got back into the car a heavy awkward silence hung in the air as you both just sat there. You look over at Lukas, expressionless as ever or at least to someone who couldn’t notice the subtle tells. He was tense, eyebrows knitted downward more than usual, his knuckles were white around the steering wheel, and his breathing was in sharper breaths.

You weakly call out his name and right after it left your lips you heard him say somewhat bluntly, “I’m sorry.” He lets out a long sigh and and continues to talk, “I… I over reacted. I wanted this night to be perfect. I was already tense… and that damn Dane would have made it worse if...”

He trailed off as he shut his eyes. Though he can’t see it you give him a sad smile. You reach over to him and pull him into an awkward sideways hug. “It’s okay, Lukas I’m happy just being with you. You don’t need to do all this stuff for me.”

    “But-”

“No buts!” you said hugging him closer, “Let’s just go back to my home and enjoy a nice dinner there. No one will bother use, no waiters, or annoying chatty diners, and especially no Denmark.”

He actually had a small smile on his face after the last part. He soon agreed and drove back to your house. Once there you and your date cooked something together that was enjoyed with a glass of wine. After that you sat on the couch under a shared blanket watching cheesy scary movies and monster flicks, they were always good for a laugh.

Late into the night your eyes began to drift closed as you rest your head on Lukas’ shoulder. His arm wrapped around you, gentle holding you close and his head leaned against yours. Your breathing was shallow and he smiled to himself. "Jeg elsker deg." he whispered out.

“I love you too,” you whispered back.
I have the attention span of a goldfish, I really do. I can't tell you how many time I looked up something relating to the story only to find myself reading about a show I haven't watched in years, (I was looking through the Sailor Moon wiki) or spending an hour watching an old episode of the Outer Limits solely because the title of an episode is "Cold Hands, Warm Heart" (William Shatner was in it and it was before Star Trek)

:icondolphinskiss: Requested this story. I hope I did alright, but I think the ending is a little rushed.
